Milton Jordan Ferrell, Jr, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 16, 2015 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Visitation will be Monday, January 19, 2015, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS, followed by a “Celebration of Life” service at 11:00 am in the Lakewood Chapel. Interment will follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS.
Milton was born in Jackson, MS on April 10, 1927 to the late Nora Bailey Ferrell and Milton Jordan Ferrell, Sr. He graduated from Central High School and served his country in the U.S Navy and Navy Reserve. He began his retail management career at Adam Hats store during which time he married his “sweetheart” Helen McKay. He continued his career at Shainberg’s Department Store, managing stores in Mississippi and Louisiana and then working later at Steinmart. Milton was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and both great and great-great grandfather. He was a dedicated Christian and a longtime member of Highland Baptist Church, Jackson where he taught Sunday school and was ordained as a lifetime deacon. He also served his Lord through Gideons International.
He enjoyed traveling, growing tropical flowers, fishing, and farming, but most of all, spending time with his wife Helen. He was preceded in death by his son, Milton (Mickey) Ferrell, III. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Helen McKay Ferrell, one son, Jeffrey Ferrell of Brandon, two sisters, Helen Ferrell Pierce of Lexington and Bonnie Ferrell Parkison of Madison, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grand children and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by the widow of Milton (Mickey) Ferrell, III, Vicki Jefcoat.
The family would like to thank the MS State Veterans Home In Jackson for their special care the past 4 years while he was a resident there, and special care of Helen while visiting him.
