WWII Veteran, Milton “Mickey” James was born November 29, 1924. He passed away at the age of 96 on May 19, 2021. He served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Vestal in the Pacific Arena and was Honorably Discharged July 9, 1945.
Milton was married to Marguerite Stanley – the love of his life – until her passing in 2004. Survivors include: Step-son Mike Stanley and wife Pat of Indio, CA; Loved ones and caregivers Jack and Chris McMillan of Madison, MS and Donnie Turnage of Vaughan, MS.
Milton worked for Continental Glass/Glass Containers Corp., or as he referred to it, “The Glass House”, for 40 years and was active in many aspects of the plant. He earned the nickname “Salty”… which he well deserved. He was a proud member of Local Union #41, and also served as Union President for several years. He and Marguerite traveled to many Union meetings across the U.S. together.
Service will be Monday, May 24 at 10:00 AM at Lakewood Memorial Park Pavilion.
