Mittie W. White

Mrs. Mittie W. White, 87, of Brandon, MS, died September 5, 2026 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, MS, from 10:00 to 11:00 am with graveside to follow with burial at Lakewood Memorial Park. Dr. Mark Strum will officiate.

Mittie was born October 28, 1938 in Smith County, MS, to her parents, the late Zelton and Oma Walters. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Raymond, MS.

Mittie enjoyed sewing, camping, cooking and most recently playing Bingo and making crafts at Castlewoods Place Assisted Living. She worked as a secretary for 40 years in Jackson, MS at Standard Life Insurance Company, Magnolia Academy and Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zelton and Oma Walters; her husband of 61 years Perrin T. White; her brother Myron Rothell Walters; and her sister Zettie W. Grant.

Mittie is survived by her daughter, Jennifer White Michael of Oxford, MS; her son, Steven Rothell White of Morton, MS; her only grandchild, Hannah Grace Knight and her husband, Matthew Knight of Tupelo, MS; and her only great grandchild, Liam Perrin Knight, of Tupelo, MS. She is also survived by her sister, Jessie W. Thornton of Madison, MS; very dear family friends, Curtis and Jennie Massey of Raymond, MS; Bob Coward of Morton, MS; and Laura S. Watkins of Madison, MS. Mittie is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews as well as her brother-in-law, Elton White of Pearl, MS and her sister-in-law, Gwen White of Brandon, MS.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Massey, Dewey Johnson, Winston Magness, David Simpson, Bob Coward and Matthew Knight. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. James D. Polk and Greg White.
