Patsy Bunyard Hammock

June 22, 1941-July 5, 2025

Mrs. Patsy Hammock peacefully passed away on July 5, 2025 at Riggs Manor in

Raymond, MS. Visitation will be held Thursday July 10, 2025 at First Baptist Church

Flora from 9am-11am. Service will begin at 11am. Graveside will be held at the Flora

Cemetery at 12pm.

Mrs. Hammock was the daughter of Myrtle Patrick Bunyard and Bryan Lee

Bunyard. She was born June 22, 1941 in Clinton,Mississippi. In 1950, she moved to Flora

to live with her aunt Margaret and uncle R.M. Costello. She began going to school in

Flora in the third grade and graduated from Flora High School in 1959.

It was during her time at Flora High School that she met her husband Robert

Hammock. She and Robert dated all throughout high school and in July 1961 they

married. In April of 1969 they had their only Daughter, Reagan Hammock Mullins, whom

she loved dearly.

Mrs. Hammock was an underwriter for Allstate for 37 years. She spent most of

her time pouring into her church. She began serving at First Baptist Church of Flora in

1972. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, bringing glory to the kingdom in any way

that she could. She spent countless hours leading Sunday school, women’s Bible

studies, youth groups, GA’s and training union. She would hold prayer cottage meetings

in her home every month. She was a large part of organizing Wednesday night covered

dish supper. One of the last positions she held within the church was organizing the

food pantry. All of her service throughout the years led to her receiving a service award.

When Mrs. Hammock was not busy with the church, you could find her at home

in her sewing room. She loved spending time making quilts for friends and families. She

was a member of a quilting group and every year at Christmas time, the group would

get together and make quilts for children at the Children’s Hospital in Jackson, MS.

Mrs. Hammock was not only a devoted mother, but a devoted grandmother as

well. She loved her two granddaughters, Anna and Kaitlyn, dearly. She spent every bit

of her free time with them. She taught them all she knew about sewing and cooking.

She was always there for them, no matter the occasion.

Mrs. Hammock is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert, daughter Reagan

(Marvin “Bubba”), sister Sarah, brother Joe, and 2 granddaughters Anna (Alex) and

Kaitlyn (Christopher). She is preceded in death by her mother Myrtle, father Bryan,

aunt Margaret, uncle Robert McCann, brother Robert McCann, and sister Rose.
