Paul James Jacobs

Paul James Jacobs, age 84, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 in Clinton, MS. A funeral service for Paul will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209.

Paul was born on May 14th, 1939 in Roanoke, Virginia to parents O.T. and Nelly Jacobs. He attended Morris Hill University and then obtained his MD at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He went on to obtain his M. Ed. from Mississippi State University and Mississippi College.

Paul’s greatest joy was his family, who he loved and cared for. He also loved the outdoors, took pride in his gardening and yard work, and tending to his many bird feeders. Paul was a faithful member and the co-Sunday school teacher of "Friends of Faith" at First Baptist Church of Jackson. He was loved and adored by his church family. He was a strong willed, friendly, and loving person to all who knew him, and was most known for his wit and never ending silly jokes.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Doris Singleton Hannaford.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Long; granddaughters, Jenna and Jaden; son, Paul Jacobs Jr. and his wife, Laree Jacobs; grandson, Joseph and his wife, Jena; nephew, Thomas Thompson and his wife, Sheila; and many other dear family members and friends.
