Our family lost its beloved Matriarch when God called her home on the morning of November 29, 2021 in Ocean Springs MS.
Quilcene “Jetta” Jenkins was born on September 12, 1949 in Redmond,OR to Francis and Gladys Gordon, in which both parents have preceded her in death. Jetta has always exemplified much bravery and determination throughout her life, starting when she left home at an early age to complete her basic educational studies, where she graduated from Robert S. Farrell High School out of Salem, Oregon in 1967. While working as a young adult, She met her former husband, Jerry Riggs in Portland, OR and to this union, they were blessed with two sons, in Pasadena California where the family resided until the dissolution of the marriage.
In 1976 while working and caring for her two sons as a single mother, Jetta met her late Husband, Mr. Larry “DoeDoe” Jenkins, Once again, Jetta displayed much courage as she decided to gather her kids, pack up and sell everything but “ The ironing board” and moved to Jackson MS with Larry. She quickly began working at Klingler Electric in Jackson, MS for 17 years, leaving after the relocation of the plant. Jetta then found a niche for the healthcare field, earning her certificate as a Certified Nursing assistant. Jetta worked tirelessly for many years and eventually transitioned into the position of a Healthcare Administrative Clerk.
Jetta went on to make the decision to accept Christ and became an excited servant of God, joining the Word of Life Church in Flowood, MS under the leadership of Joel Sims, where she was a faithful and dedicated member.
Unfortunately, being diagnosed with an untimely illness, this resulted in Jetta reluctantly retiring from St. Dominic Hospital in 2020, where she worked for over 23 years. With this, her love for gardening, cooking, traveling, spending time with her family and grandchildren was kicked into overdrive. She enjoyed in abundance celebrating holidays, special moments, and birthdays.
She leaves to Cherish her sweet memories with her 4 children, sons Timothy (Tarra) Riggs Sr. Damien (Yolanda) Riggs Sr. both of Jackson, MS and Jeremy (Sharon) Jenkins of Ocean Springs, MS. 1 daughter Tais (Brian) Anderson of Biloxi, MS. 3 devoted step sons, Kenneth (Jennifer) Domino of Madison, MS, Dexter (Kenya) Johnson of Clinton, MS and Larry Watson of Las Vegas Nevada. 2 brothers Steve Gordon and Gary Gordon, both of Yakima, WA. 1 sister, Justine (Ken) Easlon of Powell Butte, OR. Jetta was blessed and cherished her numerous grandchildren, and great granddaughter, a host of nieces and nephews that loved her dearly and special friends that gave her words of encouragement and support until her departure.
