She was a longtime resident of Clinton prior to moving to Byram and a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church.

Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lavelle Hughes, Sr., of 66 years; parents, Arthur Lee Bates, Sr. and Mittie Lee Partridge Bates; children, Mark Hughes and Deborah Ann Hughes; grandson, David Hughes.

Rachel is survived by her son, Sonny Hughes (Julia) of Terry; her daughter, Marla' Hughes of Terry; her grandchildren, Angie George (Pat), Ryan Bridges (Michelle), Kayla Fuller (Josh); her great grandchildren, Austin Hughes (Natalie), Anna Hensley, Haley Taylor, Ethan Bridgers, Nathan Bridgers, Aidan Bridgers, Emerson Fuller, Charleigh Fuller; her great-great grandchildren, Lakyn Hughes, Rowan Hughes, Riverly Hughes, Micah George, Elijah George, Lae' Lani Berry and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
