Rebecca was born on May 28, 1928, the third child of Herbert and Flossie Hollingsworth in Belmont, Mississippi. Her siblings are Mary Schwartz, Neola Cleveland, Sidney Hollingsworth, O'Neil Hollingsworth, Patricia Herring and Kay Hollingsworth.
Rebecca, also known as "Mimi" by her grandchildren, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. In 1944 she married Norman E. Parrish in Jackson, Mississippi. She worked off and on as a secretary while living in MS, OR, UT, and VA. She and Norman raised three children until his death in 1976. She returned to Mississippi, resumed her secretary career and enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening, music and spending time with family. On one of her trips, Rebecca met Charles K. Harrell, who she married in 1994. Mimi and Charlie continued traveling stateside and abroad until his death in 2006.
Mrs. Harrell is survived by her daughter, Pamela Milner of Brandon, son Stephen Parrish (Jeanne) of Mandeville, LA, son Paul Parrish (Robbie) of Bell Buckle, TN, her sister, Patricia Herring of Wilmette, IL and her sister-in-law, Johnnie Hollingsworth of Brandon. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amanda Carraway (Clinton), Adam Milner (Carlin), Andrew Parrish (Cynthia), Kevin Parrish (Kristin), Sarah Parrish, Benjamin Parrish (Faith), William Parrish (Rilei); and great grandchildren: Banks Eaton, Hayes Eaton, Carter Carraway, Sam Milner, Jack Milner, Morgan Milner, Brooke Parrish, John Paul Parrish, Olivia Parrish and Mack Parrish, as well as several dear nieces and nephews.
Her family is forever grateful for the exceptional care she received initially at Hospice Ministries, Ridgeland, MS and after at The Madison Health and Rehab, Madison, MS.
A funeral service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, Jackson, MS, on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 am, with a graveside service immediately following at Lakewood Memorial Park South.
