Richard Bear Olney Arrington III

Richard Olney “Bear” Arrington III, 51, passed away Saturday, July 23 at his Jackson residence. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Thursday in the chapel of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday at Wright and Ferguson Downtown, and at 10 AM Thursday in the church parlor.

Mr. Arrington was born April 17, 1960 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. He attended Copiah Academy and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and spending time on the water. Olney combined his love for the outdoors and his entrepreneurial flair to form a business supplying florists with raw materials such as Spanish moss.

Mr. Arrington was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Olney Arrington, Jr. and Norma Leggett Arrington Nicholas; and by his sister, Rebecca Jeanne Arrington Fugate. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Winfield Arrington of Jackson; son, Scott Henwood (Lacey Lynn) of Warren, AR; step-daughter, Ashlee Ann Thompson of Independence, MO; brother, George Nicholas (Mara) of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren: Leland, Lethal, Lily, and Dylan; and nephew, Jacob.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church, PO Box 1092, Jackson, MS 39215.
