Ricky Lee Buffington, age 64, of Raymond, MS, lost his battle with Alzheimer's Disease surrounded by the love of his family on July 6, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Ester Buffington and his Aunt, Edna Fisher.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dana; his sons Marcus (Meghan) and Brandon (Candi); grand children Caden, Colton, Lindsay and Ty; his sister Jean Willoughby (Mike); his brothers Joe (Sherrie) Buffington and Wayne Buffington.
Born on August 13, 1953 in Jackson MS. He graduated from Central High School and continued his education to become an Electrician working at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson, MS. for 30+ years. He grew up in Magnolia Park Baptist Church and served many years as a Deacon at Van Winkle Baptist Church.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who loved people and life to its fullest. He was a person who loved sports, starting at Enochs Jr. High, he was a star basketball player and track runner and continuing at Central High School. He loved fishing, hunting , and the thrill of Nascar races.
Named by fellow classmates at Enochs Jr. High School as the "Most Wittiest" and "Loveable," became his trademark for all of his life. His gentle, kind, sweet spirit and ability to make people laugh was very contagious.
The loss we all feel is great. His love for God, family, friends, and even strangers, will be the memories that sustain us. To know Ricky, was to love him. May his spirit and example of living life to the fullness be an example and a model for all. We are comforted in knowing that Ricky "knows" who Ricky is again.
The family expresses gratitude and thanks to the staff at Compassus Hospice and The Arbor Nursing Home for the care they provided to Ricky and his family.
I'm sure Ricky's last words to each of us would be, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; now the prize awaits me--the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing." (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
