Robert B. Hollingsworth, age 96, passed away on October 3, 2014. Visitation will be at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home Monday, October 6, 2014 at 1:45 pm with graveside service to follow at 2:30 pm at Lakewood Memorial Park. Bob was born in 1918 in Rawls Springs, MS to the late T.M. Hollingsworth and Viola Collins. The “Love of his Life”, Gladys Jones Hollingsworth preceded him in death. Bob served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a navigator. He worked for Continental Can Corporation as an accountant. Bob was a gentle and God loving man who was a joy to be around. He talked many times about life after death and never doubted the Lord’s promise to his followers. He was a loyal member of First Baptist Church of Jackson for many years. Bob loved his garden, especially his fig trees, and always enjoyed making his fig preserves and eating them with Gladys’ biscuits. He filled his later years listening to Rush Limbaugh and kept up with current events locally and nationally, as well as around the world. He leaves behind a sister, Catherine Harrod of Natchez, several nieces and nephews, and longtime friends and neighbors, Toni and Jack Williams. His family would like to thank the people at the Arbor for their help in Bob’s later years.
