Rev. Robert E. Wall, age 89, went to be with his Lord on August 13, 2016. Rev. Wall was a native of Brookhaven and graduated from Brookhaven High School. Literally within hours of graduating he and his twin brother, Roland, entered the army where they served during the final months of World War II in Germany.
After returning from Europe, Rev. Wall entered Mississippi College in Clinton. He married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Burgess of Brookhaven and they returned to Brookhaven where he entered business with his father and twin brother.
In 1953, Rev. Wall entered the ministry. He and Mrs. Wall spent three years in Fort Worth, TX, where he attended and graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was called to and pastored Easthaven Baptist Church in his home town of Brookhaven. Later in 1962, he and his family moved to Kalispell, MT where they organized and served Easthaven Baptist Church for 9 ½ years. That church is now one of the largest Baptist churches in Montana and has sponsored some 10 new churches.
In 1971 Rev. Wall joined his alma mater in Clinton as Director of Church Relations, a position which he held for 21 years. He retired in 1993 and continued to live in Clinton. Rev. Wall served a number of churches in central Mississippi as interim pastor. He was an avid amateur photographer and used his camera extensively in his church work and his service at Mississippi College.
A patriotic multi-media program was produced by Rev. Wall and presented over 2500 times in 35 states and 6 times in the Pentagon. This three screen, 6 projector program received awards from several states and the George Washington Honor Medal from the Freedom’s Foundation at Valley Forge.
Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Wall wore the uniform of his country with great pride. He often told audiences that the uniform symbolized two things dear to his heart; the uniform itself symbolized his service to his country and the silver cross as a chaplain symbolized his service to his Lord. Chaplain Wall was awarded the Mississippi Magnolia Cross for his service in the Mississippi National Guard.
Rev. Wall was preceded in death by his parents, Roland B. Wall, Sr. and Annie Claire Henderson Wall and his twin brother, Roland B. Wall, Jr. all of Brookhaven. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine and his children, Robert Bruce Wall and Amy Lynne Wall all of the Jackson/Clinton area; a brother, Donald Wall of Brookhaven and a sister, Jeanne Wall Cole of North Carolina.
