

Roy L. Breeden, 75, of Covington, LA passed away at Countrywood Manor, Mantachie, MS July 24, 2015. Born in Brookhaven, MS, January 2, 1940 to Rufus L. Breeden and Lether Brister Breeden Simmons. His formative years were in Jackson, MS where he attended Jackson Public Schools, graduating in the class of 1958 from Provine. He served in the U.S. Air Force, returned and graduated from Mississippi College in 1965 with at degree in business. He pursued a career in the hotel industry which carried him to many places in and out of the US. Retiring in 2012, as his health began to fail. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Stanley A. Simmons, brother in law Dexter W. Scruggs and nephew Dexter (Bill) W. Scruggs, Jr. He is survived by his sister, Nina B. Scruggs, Mooreville, Ms, his niece, Connie S. and husband William (Will) Whittington, great nieces Shelby Vance Whittington and Charlotte Bell Whittington of Tupelo. Stepbrother and friend, Robert Simmons and his wife June of Brandon. Of the Baptist faith, his letter remains with Daniel Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Monday, July 27, 2015 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakewood South Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at Lakewood South Funeral Home in Jackson. Interment to follow at Lakewood South Memorial Park.
