Shirley Grace Redden, 81, passed away on June 14, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 PM with funeral services to follow. Interment will be Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Redden was born on May 23, 1937 in Dumas, AR. In her teenage years, she loved to sing and was often the featured entertainer at a local radio station in Monroe, LA. She worked for General Motors for many years. She loved watching sports and cooking, especially her famous cornbread. Mrs. Redden loved her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she spoiled every chance she got. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior and was a faithful servant from the moment she was born until He called her home. She was truly a woman of God who walked by faith and not by sight. She was a member of the Church of the Vine.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis W. Redden; son, Gary Louis Redden; daughter, Linda R Hicks; dad, George Washington Harper; mom, Evelyn Harper Webb; sisters, Barbara Gene Kelly, Mildred Babauta, Evelyn Maedean Pardon, Georgie Jeanett Harper; and brother, William Monroe “Buddy” Harper.
Mrs. Redden is survived by her son, George Wayne Redden; daughter, Patricia Diane Ford; grandchildren, Reannon Floore-Avant, David Juston Hicks, Sharon Leigh Hicks, William Redden, Casey Wayne Redden, Steven Tyler Ford; 12 great grandchildren; and sisters, Rosa Faust, Mary Moore, Lorene Johnson.
