Susan Bishop

Susan Elaine Abernathy Bishop, 63, of Raymond, Mississippi, died August 11, 2026, in Raymond, Mississippi. Born December 14, 1962, in Mississippi, Susan was the daughter of George Abernathy and Sarah Abernathy. Throughout her life, she was beloved and cherished, remembered for a kind heart, a compassionate spirit, and a quiet bravery that carried her through life with grace and steadiness.

Susan worked at Delphi Packard for over 10 years, serving with dedication and care. In the lives she touched, Susan’s kind heart and brave spirit left a lasting imprint—one that will continue to be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She married John R. Bishop III on October 17, in Mississippi. Susan’s family was central to her life, and her love for them was constant and enduring.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Bishop III; her daughter, Becky Porter; and her son, Jacob Porter.

She is survived by her daughters, Jamie Rouse, Ashley Stephens, and Emily Weeks; her step-daughters, Alecia Hasslebeck and Lindsey Bishop; her step-sons, John R. Bishop IV (Chelsee) and Billy Bishop (Andrea); her brothers, Joseph Abernathy (Spring) and David Abernathy; and her parents, Sarah Abernathy and George Abernathy of Raymond, Mississippi. She also leaves several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
