Mary P. “Virginia” Burney, 91, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at Central Ms. Medical Center.

Visitation will be Friday, October 21, 2011 from 12pm – 2pm at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be at 2pm Friday in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Burney, a native of George County, lived in Jackson most of her life. She was born to Erasmus Darwin and Kathryn Brady Persons in 1920. She was a graduate of Central High School and attended Belhaven College and was a member of Alta Woods Methodist Church.

Mrs. Burney was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Burney and her daughter, Mary Jane Flanagan.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Beggerly and her husband Clark, Lou Ann Burney, and Gina Reischman and her husband Charles; six grandchildren, Kevin Flanagan, Geoff Pender, Shelley Coleman, David Reischman, Matthew Reischman, Anna Reischman and one great-grandchild, Athena Flanagan.
