I am John Gorday,  the Buddy that Billy mentioned.  Yes, many happy hours in that porch swing.  Seventy something years ago.  Singing hymns.

My name is Bill Murphy, and I live on Evergreen Ave., in south Jackson, across the street and 2 door down from the Curtis and his family.  I spent many happy hours as a child and young teen on that front porch... back when that neighborhood was solidly stable, 'middle-class' families.  Buddy Gorday, who also lived on Evergreen... although younger, considered ourselves as close pals with Curtis... and that friendship will FOREVER be remembered and CHERISHED!

Prayers, thoughts, and best wishes for Curtis' family at this sad time.   We know you will miss him, but we also know that he is now at home with the Lord.

I am saddened to hear of the death of Rev. Curtis Moffat.  He and Dell were our friends for decades- since we both served UM Churches in the Vicksburg, MS area.  He was my mentor as I studied for my Deacon and Elder ordinations and we often visited and shared our experiences as ministers, Christians and friends.  I know he and Dell are reunited in the Joy of the Lord and we can celebrate that as we grieve the loss of a friend and brother in Christ.  Our prayers are with you, family.  He loved you all.

Rev Curtis was a beautiful soul. I remember when Kat, Linda Reeves, and I stayed in his home when we were up there for an ADK meeting. He was gracious to have us in his home. He even cooked supper for us that night. He was a gracious host. 
I also got to worship with him and Mrs, Dell at Trinity UMC in Picayune when my son was their minister. Both will always hold a special place in my heart.
