After courageously battling several health issues over the last five years, William C. Myers of Clinton, Mississippi, passed away Friday, June 24th at St. Dominic’s Hospital. Visitation will be June 28, 10-12 at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Boulevard, Jackson, MS, with the funeral to follow at 12. A commitment service at Lakewood Memorial Park will follow immediately thereafter.
Mr. Myers was born in Yazoo City on December 15, 1950, to Dewey and Juanita Myers. He married Jerri Kilian Myers on August 14, 1971, and together they raised two children, Krista and Scott.
He had a varied and fulfilling career as a civilian comptroller for the military and Country Manager to Saudi Arabia with the Raytheon Corporation. However, he was most proud of his years of service as an infantry officer with the United States Army. He was a quiet but gentle man who loved fiercely. Anyone who knew him spoke of his wisdom, intellect and how well he took care of those around him. He was an avid outdoorsman, a man of faith and an eternal optimist; he loved Westerns and had a knack for coming up with a joke at the most unexpected times.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jerri Kilian Myers; his two much-loved children, Krista Myers Markham and William Scott Myers (and his wife, Cara), and his sister, Mildred Myers Morris (and her husband, Glenn). He also leaves his five grandchildren who were the lights of his life: Jordan, Anna Catherine, Josh and Emma Grace Markham and Connor Myers.
