Barbara was born March 6, 1946 in the old Webb-Williamson Hospital in Jackson to her parents Eddie Joe Crowell and Lela (Murchison) Crowell. After a long illness she quietly slipped off to heaven Tuesday morning on the 31st of January to join her parents, brother, sister and many other loved ones in the presence of our loving Savior Jesus Christ.
Barbara grew up in a small home in South Madison County in which she was blessed to spend her last 20 plus years. She attended J.B Young Elementary, then South Side High School, graduation in 1964, with many others who remained close friends. She spent her working years primarily at Bell South Telephone Co. for nearly 25 years and then Teamsters Local 217 for another 18 years eventually retiring in 2014.
She was a member of Meridian Baptist church where she served her lord faithfully in the Sunday School Childrens Nursery and the kitchen/hospitality ministry until failing health prohibited her from attending in person. After becoming homebound she sent cards weekly to members on the church's prayer list and to her Pastor and Associate Pastors.
In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her brother: Bobby Joe Crowell, her sister: Betty Lou (Crowell) Johnson her brother in-law: Joseph (Buddy) Johnson and niece: lea tibbs.
Barbara loved and was loved by, and is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Emmet Earl Brewer; her sons Rodney Scott Brewer (Kim), Corey Todd Brewer (Christina); Granddaughter: Carrie Nicole (Gage) and Great Granddaughters: Ady, Austen and Anna; Grandsons: Jon Williamson, and special nieces: Cathy Adams and Beth Rasberry. She is also loved and survived by many others welcomed in her family including Michael Coatney and children: Xane and Miah. There are many others not listed.
Barbara chose to be cremated with a private burial of her earthly remains on her home property.
A memorial service will be held at Meridian Baptist Church, 161 Harts Bridge Rd in Jackson TN, on Sunday, February 12 beginning at 1:00pm.
Barbara wished that any memorial gifts be given to Meridian Baptist Church. in support of the Childrens Nursery and kitchen/Hospitality ministries in her memory.
