Barney David “Buddy” Branch Jr.

Most everyone called him Buddy, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the age of 74. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday January 20, 2018 at Malesus United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Rev. Travis Penny will officiate the service. Buddy grew up in the Bemis area, graduating from South Side High School in 1961, and lived in the Malesus community for almost fifty years. He worked for Waco Industries; instrumental in opening up Bailey's Logging Supplies; Jackson Madison County General Hospital, retiring in 2008; and was a member of the Malesus United Methodist Church.

He was born on September 18, 1943, to the late Barney David Branch Sr. and Mary Frances Long Branch. He married Nell Lois Massengill on December 2, 1966. Buddy was preceded in death by his daughter, Brandy Lois Branch.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nell Lois Branch; son Brian Keith Branch and wife Janna; two granddaughters Katelyn and Lauren; one sister Cecelia Bain and husband Lamar of Texas and 7 nieces and nephews. Buddy leaves so many longtime, dear friends and especially the everyday friends of Bonwood Cafe. A visitation will be held on Friday January 19, 2018 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, and will resume on Saturday from 11:00 am until the service time at 1:00 pm at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Malesus United Methodist Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

So sorry to hear of Buddys passing....I thought alot of him and he was one of my dads great friends...sipping coffee and telling tales at Bonwood Cafe...you will be missed and RIP my dear friend

So sorry about Buddy. The Wheeler and Branch family were good friends most of my life. I realy enjoyed being with Cecelia and Buddy. Buddy will sutely be missed by many. My condolences to Buddy's family and friends.
