Betty L. Buntin, 91, passed away Wednesday December 5, 2018 at JMCGH surrounded by her family. Born August17, 1927 in Maury City, TN; daughter of the late H.C. “Jack” May and the late Mildred Ballinger May. She was an active member of First Baptist Church for 80 years.
Ms. Buntin graduated from Jackson High School and Union University. While at Union University, she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, crowned “Miss Union”, and served as secretary to the University President.
Her career included Madison County Board of Education prior to 27 years with First Tennessee Bank from which she retired. Upon retirement, Ms. Buntin returned to work part time at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home and Highland Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Buntin was known to her family as a loving mother and grandmother always supporting their church, school, and extracurricular activities. She was a true southern lady.
Survivors include Charles Barry Buntin (Kathy) or Nashville, TN (Son); Beth Buntin Baumgartner (Bobby) of Rock Hill, SC (Daughter); Charles (Charlie) B. Buntin (Amber) of Ruskin, FL(Grandson); Michael Thomas Buntin of Clearwater, FL (Grandson); Kevin Andrew Buntin of Brentwood, TN (Grandson); Elizabeth Jo Buntin and Olivia Marie Buntin of Ruskin, FL (Great Granddaughters).
Pallbearers to serve include Charlie Buntin, Michael Buntin, Richard Buntin, Ray Butts, Rebecca Buntin Newson and Mac Thomson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel, with Rev. Dan Bruce Officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The Family will receive friends from 11am-1pm prior to the service Saturday, December 8, 2018.
