A life-long resident of Madison County, she was born August 20, 1930 in Bemis, TN to Allen and Wilma Pitts Webb. She attended J.B. Young School, graduating in May, 1948. Two weeks later, on May 20, 1948, she married the love of her life, James B. Flowers who preceded her in death in 2008. They made their home in Jackson where she had a 50 year career with National Bank of Commerce/Union Planter's Bank. She was also known for her beautiful gardens of flowers.
She was a member of Poplar Heights Baptist Church all of her adult life and served as Director of the Nursery for over twenty years.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Fritchey and husband, Bob, of Sun City Center, FL and Jan Cooksey and husband, Barry, of Jackson; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and her brother, Charles W. (Sonny) Webb and wife Mae, of Jackson.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at a visitation to be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at the Nroth Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
The funeral service is to be conducted on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Rev. Robin Popplewell officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Betty's favorite charity, as she and James lost a baby to childhood cancer.
