She was born on October 25, 1935 in Henderson, TN to the late Malcolm and Ruby Patterson. She moved to Crockett County, TN with her family for farming opportunities and attended Gadsden Schools. Betty met her husband and married in the 1950's. She and her husband then moved to Chicago for work. While in Chicago, Betty always made sure to come home to Tennessee to attend to her younger siblings and family.
Betty and her husband then started their family with two children Charles Wayne and Legina. Betty continued to work through the years while raising her children. Betty worked many jobs throughout the years. One of her business endeavors she was always proud and known for was Betty's Lounge in Jackson, TN. She enjoyed spending time traveling as well. Betty also enjoyed working in her yard growing beautiful plants and flowers. Her most cherished time she spent of her life was with her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grand children in her retirement years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Hairrell, brothers Gaylon and Kelsie Patterson, sister Dorothy, cherished sister in law Marilyn Patterson, and many other family and friends.
She is survived by her children Charles Wayne Permenter (Valarie) and Legina Silva; her brother, Ronald Patterson; sisters, Patsy Garner and Mary Rheda Turner; her grandchildren, Jason Silva (Erin), Amanda Miller (Derek), Kelsey Gadberry (Chet), Jaimie Permenter (Denver), Riley Permenter (Danielle); eighteen Great Grandchildren, her precious dog Bandit, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 1:30 pm in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial following in Highland Memorial Gardens.
