

She was born on May 10, 1949 in Lexington, TN to the late Walter and Dorothy Woods Cagle. Brenda was a beloved devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. She shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Morris Gurley, building a life centered on love, faith, and family.
She was the proud and caring mother of three children: Cynthia Ann Gurley, Jerrud Edwin Gurley, and Troy Wesley Gurley. Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and she took immense pride in supporting, encouraging, and loving them unconditionally.
Known for her kindness, strength, and generous heart, Brenda touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was an amazing cook whose homemade meals brought family and friends together around the table, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
She also had a servant's heart and was a compassionate caregiver, always putting the needs of others before her own. Above all, Brenda was a devoted woman of faith in Jehovah, and her trust in Him guided her throughout her life. Whether through a comforting word, a warm meal, or a listening ear, she made people feel loved and welcomed. She will be remembered for her compassion, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and unconditional love for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Lane Gurley.
She is survived by her two brothers, James Melvin Cagle and Harold Wayne Cagle; her three children, Cynthia Ann Gurley, Jerrud Edwin Gurley, and Troy Wesley Gurley; her 6 grandchildren, Rowan Alexander Gurley, Sean Elliot Gurley, Nathaniel Timothy- Paul Gann, Elizabeth Ruth Otero, Naiomi Ashley Montgomery, and Duston Blake Gann; and her two great-grandchildren; Julian Elias Otero, and Sebastian Isaiah Otero, who brought her much joy.
A graveside service for Brenda Gurley will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Ridgecrest Cemetery with David Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons prior to the service.
