Joe was born January 9, 1928 in Pryorsburg, KY to the late Bailey Lee and Audie Bedwell Grooms. He served in the United States Navy during WWII, being honorably discharged in 1947. A member of the greatest generation, he was an insurance salesman most of his career.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Grooms.
He is survived by his four children, Connie Grooms Turner (Robert), Tamara K. Davis (Grant), Pam Stanko McElroy (Danny) and Michael J. Grooms; ten grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens. Paul Veasey will officiate the service and Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Navy.
