Carl E. Jones

Carl Edward Jones, 83, of Jackson, Tn, passed away after a brief illness on December 6, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the South chapel of George a Smith and Sons with burial to follow in Ridgecrest cemetery.

Born September 3, 1933 in Gadsden TN to Howard and Maurine Jones, he was the eldest of five children. At the age of 13, Mr. Jones began an apprenticeship to his father as a brick mason. That began a lifelong career that extended to his retirement.

He served honorably In the Army and was discharged October 31, 1961

Mr. Jones married his sweetheart Margaret Ann Crain, whom he affectionately called Margie, in 1955.

They were married for 52 years and had two children together before Mrs. Jones’ death on December 25, 2007

He was a member at First Baptist Church of Bemis.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Howard and Maurine Jones, and by his sister Nancy Todd. He is survived by his children Dennis Jones, and Chris Jones and their spouses, his brothers Fred Jones and Bobby Jones, and by his sister Diane (Sam) Shelton, and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the South Chapel George A. Smith and Sons from 5 PM to 8 PM.
