Funeral services for Claude Wayne “Pete” Vantreese, age 68 of Jackson, will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel, with burial to follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. He passed away on July 13, 2011 in Jackson, TN.
Pete was born on September 14, 1942 in Jackson to the late Claude Muse and Helen Sue Dial Vantreese. He was a member of Love and Truth Church of Jackson. He was a graduate of Jackson High School in 1960, a decorated Army Veteran and retired from Bellsouth with 33 years of service. Pete was a talented pianist, an avid sportsman, and loved gardening, hummingbirds and his family.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer Booker of Medina, Greg Vantreese and wife Cathy of Collierville, TN and Tim Vantreese of Jackson, TN; four granddaughters, Adrienne, Sidney and Shannon Vantreese and Jenna Booker; a sister, Suzanne Bochenek and husband Stan of Jackson; a brother, Steve Vantreese of Medina and a niece, Amanda Casey of Jackson, TN.
In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Porter Vantreese.
Visitation will be held 5-7 pm on Friday at the North Chapel.
