He was born May 27, 1924 to the late Curtis Leon and Era Butler. He was a fireman and worked at the Jackson General Hospital for several years. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and he was wounded in action.
He is survived by his loving wife, Grace Birdwell Butler; son, Jimmy B. (Barbara) Butler of Jackson, TN; brother, Bernard (Betty) Butler of Beuna Vista, TN; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Holloway and Justin Matthew Butler of Jackson, TN; and two great grandchildren, Avery E. Holloway and Wyatt Matthew Butler of Jackson, TN.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the North Chapel with burial to follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
