Gaye was born on May 20, 1936 at home in Madison County to the late Clarence and Wilma Latham. Gaye graduated from J.B. Young High School and West Tennessee Business College. On December 20, 1959, she married Donald “Bo” Deaton. The couple had three sons, Keith, Gregg and Chris. They shared their lives together for sixty-one years raising their family, traveling and spending time with family and friends. From hosting gatherings for friends to family holiday celebrations, Gaye always welcomed people with a smile and some good food.
Gaye worked at Jackson Utility Division, J.B. Young School, Madison County Court House, and retired from Jackson-Madison County Health Department. She was a member of Malesus Baptist Church where she faithfully served. She was a wonderful mother and housewife, dedicated to her family.
Gaye is survived by her sons: Keith (Donna) Deaton of Hendersonville, Gregg (Kim) Deaton of Hickory Withe and Chris (Lisa) Deaton of Jackson; grandchildren: Andrew Deaton of Lakeland, Tyler (Brooke) Deaton of Jackson, Riley Deaton of Jackson, Samuel Deaton and Jacob Deaton, both of Hendersonville and Lauren Deaton of Hickory Withe; great grandson, Peyton Deaton of Jackson. She also leaves her sister, Patricia Johnson of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Wilma Latham, and her sister Carolyn Monroe.
Pallbearers to serve will be Andrew Deaton, Tyler Deaton, Riley Deaton, Samuel Deaton, Jacob Deaton, Lauren Deaton, and Peyton Deaton.
Services celebrating her life will be held on May 18th at 1:00 p.m. at Malesus Baptist Church with Brother Mark Cagle, Dr. Phil Jett and Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Medon, TN. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service at the Church from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
