Gloria Lee Jones

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 4 p.m., in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, with Tommy Rhodes of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church officiating. Private Interment will be held at a later date in Ridgecrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones was born on September 22, 1923 in Rochester, NY to the late Benjamin Court and Florence Hutchison Lee. She married Dr. Chester K. Jones and moved to Jackson with him when he was asked to begin a Pathology department at Jackson General Hospital.

She was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where she was the President of the Alter Guild and a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Jackson Garden Club, Jackson Service League and Bal Masque. She was a 1964 delegate to the Republican National Convention.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Chester K. Jones; a daughter, Karen Ervin; a grandson, Terry Welby Tyler; a brother and a sister.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy King (Jonathan) of Medon, TN; a son, Dr. Owen Chester “Chip” Jones (Jeannette Waldrup) of Jackson, TN; seven grandchildren, James H. LouBach, Jr. (Michelle) of Goshen, KY, Kawel LouBach (Leslie) of East Lyme, CT, Court LouBach (Alicia) Shelbyville, KY, Heather LouBach Goren (Andy) of Newport Beach, CA, Lee Tyler of Louisville, KY, Courtney Tyler Shearer (Shay) of Anchorage, KY, and Chet Ervin (Sarah) of Cincinnati, OH; fourteen grandchildren; and a niece, Connie Egan White of Murfreesboro, TN.

Visitation with the Jones family will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 2-4 p.m., at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
