I loved your mom! She was a true light for us all. She always made me feel accepted and loved. Mother loved her too. She always told of an adventure they had. Ms Helen and mother had to go to Dyersburg for some reason. Your mom said she would drive. She came to pick up mother in her VW bug. Mother had never ridden in one. When she got home her first word was a huge sigh. Knowing mother was nervous of other people’s driving we asked if Ms Helen’s driving made her nervous. She said “No they had a great time laughing and sharing stories all the way. “. So why the sigh? Riding in the bug! She felt like she had crawled all the way to Dyersburg and back. Your mom will be missed but oh all the precious memories of a Christ-filled heart. Love you Ron and Susan.

I have many fond memories of Helen from the Bemis Church of Christ. She was one of my mother’s best friends starting in the 1940s when they were both working women in downtown Jackson. Somewhere I’ve got a picture of them strutting their stuff in their business suits in downtown Jackson. The thought of that brings a smile to my face.
