James Robert Banks

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the North Chapel of George A. Smith & Sons. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Banks was retired from Brasfield Construction Company and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonzo Taft and Fannie Presley Banks; two sisters, Mary Lee Flatt and Dorothy Arp; a brother, Woody Banks; and a brother-in-law, Gene Arp.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Kim Banks; two sons, Keith Shannon Banks (Amy) and James Orlie Banks; stepson, Dustin Ryan Sherrod (Becky); grandchildren, Ty Robert Banks, Hannah Morgan Sherrod, Cade Claygett Banks, Hayden Ryan Sherrod and Bo Shannon Banks; sister, Faye Jackson (Bill); and two brothers, Roy Banks (June) and Larry Banks (Mary).

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., in the North Chapel of George A. Smith & Sons Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church in J.R.'s memory.
