He was born in Jackson, Tn (Madison County) ,the son of the late Lester Vance and Linnie Alma Blanton
Sumler. He went to school in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School in 1957. He worked mostly
at the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation and retired in June 1999 after 39 years service as a Rdwy. Spec.
Supervisor 2 in the Survey & Design office in Reg. 4 in Jackson.He also retired from the Army National Guard after 26 years, 7 months, and 20 days.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Denise Sumler McAlister and one sister; Ms. Elizabeth Martin.
Is survived by his wife Janice Cordle Sumler, one sister; Mrs. Robert W. (Mildred) Dailey
of Jackson, two nephews Robert W Dailey family of Villa Rica, GA John Andrews Dailey and family of Huntersville N.C.;one niece, Laura Ann Bell of Memphis,TN. He also leaves an adopted family Joey and Barbie McCuan and their two sons; Chase Joey and Hayden Cole.
