Born on September 13, 1932 to Foster Leslie and Ruth (Fesmire) Leslie, she was blessed to see many world events and innovations that developed over her long life. She often reflected on being the little sister of her brother, Milton, and how much she looked up to him. Her memories of seeing him leave to serve in World War II and the absolute joy of his return from war, tales of wrangling cows, playing baseball with her brother, long walks from home to the many places around town, the mischief she would get into, and how she lived life to its fullest, were a special treat to share with those around her. There is no doubt she genuinely enjoyed living.
Jane graduated from Northside High School and was a cheer leader on their first cheer team. She graduated from West Tennessee Business College and went on to retire from the Madison County Trustee’s Office. Retirement was just the beginning for her. Jane was regularly active in civic and community/volunteer work. With six children, she had already given her time to serving as Boy/Cub Scout Den Mother, President of the Jackson and Jackson Southside Optimist Club allowed her to mentor children in the community. She welcomed so many of the community kids into her life with open arms.
She married Farrell Roe on Thanksgiving Day in 1952. Thereafter, she gave birth to six children, Michael, Keith (Janis), David (Karen), Tim (Laura) (Suellen), Paul, and Stacey. For 70 years, Jane & Farrell shared so much life, love, and friendship.
Jane Helen also served the community as a Telephone Pioneer member, former President of the Jackson Women’s Club, and so much more. As she became interested in genealogy research, she joined the Jackson Madison Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and was honored to be a past Chapter Regent and Honorary Regent.
Through the years, she was fortunate to welcome many grandchildren into the family. This mother of 6 became a Grandmother to 19: Kris, Michelle, Lee, Brooks, Misty, Rayann, Lesa, Foster, Jaydan, Adyason, Creedan, Amy, Justin, Adam, Caleb, Molly, Dalton, Parker, and Presley; and Great-Grandmother of 18: Arbor, Magnolia, Linden, Cora, Max, Brian, Alesa, David, Foster, William, Tyler, Frank, Harper, Miranda, Leah, Charlye, Maggie, and Nate; and Great Great-Grandmother of 2: Mila and Willow.
She was preceded in death by her mother & father, brother, and sons, Mike, Keith, and Tim. It brings so much comfort to know that she has been reunited with them in the presence of the Lord.
Jane Helen Roe will be laid to rest on Friday, January 13, 2023. Pallbearers & Honorary Pallbearers are: Paul Roe, David Roe, Justin Roe, Dalton Roe, Adam Roe, Caleb Roe, Foster Roe, Jaydan Roe, Kris Roe, Lee Roe, Brooks Roe, Parker Roe and Nate Roe.
