Joanne Hester Reed

Joanne was a devoted wife & mother, and loved her many years as "Nana" to her grandchildren. She was very active in her church and always available to help whenever the church would ask for volunteers. She and her husband Paul traveled in an RV for many years and belonged to several RV clubs. Joanne loved to read and watch "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" whenever she was able. She volunteered at BirthChoice in Jackson, Tennessee, for over 16 years. The couple celebrated 58 years of marriage in January of 2022.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother Rubye Kemp, father Stephen Clyde Hester and sister Barbara Bass.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Reed, Jr. of Jackson; son Paul Russell Reed (Denise) of Jackson, daughter Melissa Reed Carpenter (Michael) of Schertz, TX and seven grandchildren, Chandler Anne Reed, Camryn Leigh Reed, Jordan Elizabeth Reed of Halls, Tennessee; Matthew Hunter Carpenter and Marshall Brendan Carpenter of Schertz, Texas; Zachary James Gilliam (Abigail) of Memphis, Tennessee; Celina Michelle Crocker (Caleb) of Trezevant, Tennessee, and 2 great grandchildren, Kennedy Rose Crocker and Madelynn Ruth Crocker of Trevezant, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends & loved ones on Thursday evening, February 17, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Visitation on Friday, February 18, 2022, will be held from 9-10 a.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with funeral service to follow with Pastor J.P. Vick of Northside Assembly officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Birthchoice, 391 Wallace Rd., Jackson, TN, 38305.
