He was born on October 18, 1934 in Citronell, AL to the late Kenneth and Irene Fanning. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mona Street Fanning; a daughter, Lucy White; and two grandchildren, Hannah and Maddox White.
His family moved to Jackson where he attended city schools and Lambuth College. He worked for Consolidated Aluminum and later retiring from the State of Tennessee. He served in the United States Army. After discharging from the Army, he joined the National Guard retiring as Colonel after 34 years. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church where he enjoyed church library work.
Funeral services for Col. Fanning will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial following in Highland Memorial Gardens with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
