J.T. was born on September 21, 1932 to the late Julian Thomas Dunbar, Sr. and Winnie Davis Thompson Dunbar. Mr. Dunbar worked for many years for Conalco in Jackson and in later years became a Sherrif's Deputy with Madison County Sheriff's Office.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Claire Wehrle Dunbar; and his daughter, Sandra Dunbar Reck.
He is survived by his children, Julie Dunbar Glenn, Leslie Dunbar Lewis, Elizabeth (Betsy) Dunbar Day, Julian Thomas (Tom) Dunbar, III and Arthur (Bruce) Dunbar; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of J.T. Dunbar will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Ebenezer Cemetery in Malesus. Dr. Barry Scott will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis or the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt.
