Kathy Ray Morris

Kathy Ray Morris was born on October 5, 1945, at the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home. She was lovingly adopted by Ray and Kathleen Johnson of Gadsden, Tennessee, who raised her with love and faith in Jesus Christ.

On August 2, 1964, Kathy married her high school sweetheart, Lonnie Morris Jr. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and a deep commitment to serving others.

Above all else, Kathy loved Jesus Christ. Her miracle story of God’s faithfulness to heal and her creative jewelry making created opportunities to meet so many people. Whether someone was a lifelong friend or a complete stranger, Kathy wanted them to know how deeply Jesus loved them. Her faith shaped every part of her life. She faithfully served her church, cherished her church family, and was a devoted prayer warrior. She faithfully lifted others up in prayer and encouraged everyone she met with kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ray and Kathleen Johnson, and by her precious infant son, Derek Ray Morris.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Lonnie Morris Jr.; her son Andy Morris and his children, Bo Morris, Bryce Sawyers, Jacob Sawyers, and Brennan Morris; and her son Carter Morris and his wife, Julie, along with their children, Lily, Kyndall, and Wyatt.

Kathy’s greatest desire was that her family and everyone she met would know the hope found in Jesus Christ. Her life was a testimony to God’s faithfulness, and her legacy continues through the generations she loved, prayed for, and pointed toward Christ.

A service to celebrate the life of Kathy Morris will be held at 1:00 pm at The Church of Sugar Creek in Humboldt, TN with burial following in the Gadsden Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 a.m., an hour and half prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family request that gifts be made in her memory to the Church at Sugar Creek Building Fund as a way to honor her life and continue her legacy.
