

She graduated from Pinson High school and attended West Tennessee Business College and Union University. She worked as a secretary to Chester Parham, Commissioner of Education for the City of Jackson, Dr. Warren Jones, President of Union University, for Piggly Wiggly Corporation and retired after 17 years with IBEW, Local 835 as secretary and Administrative Asst. She was an active faithful member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church and had taught a Sunday School Class for more than 50 years, at Liberty Grove Church, Meridian Baptist Church and Latham’s Chapel Baptist Church. She had a great interest in genealogy and enjoyed tracing her family back even to Germany and Holland from where they originally came. Her family had strong family roots in Lynchburg, Tennessee from which the Evans family came to Madison County in a wagon and settled.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Calvin Pitts Jr. Son; James Michael Richardson, and son in law; Jim Dowd.
She is survived by her daughter Kathy Richardson Dowd and daughter in law Belinda Richardson. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren; Leann Whitefield (Lance), Amie Falls (Rendon), Jay Richardson (Tiffany), Shane Richardson, Amanda Richardson, Dwight Collins (Kayla), Jamie Wimberley (Shane), Jimmy Dowd, and Brenda Briley (Robert). She also had 16 great grandchildren who were the joy of her life.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial to follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons
Memorial Contributions may be made to Liberty Grove Baptist Church.
