Margaret Roxie Durbin

Mrs. Margaret Roxie Durbin, age 92, of Jackson, TN, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith & Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Adrian Knipper will officiate. Mrs. Durbin was born July 29, 1919, in Silerton, TN to the late Arthur Scott and Bobbie Taylor Harris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Alvin Durbin, a daughter, Shirley Jean Sharp, and two grandchildren, Barry Cupples and Angie Thompson.

Mrs. Durbin was a loving wife and mother whose greatest joy came from taking care of her family. She was a member of Malesus Baptist Church for over 60 years and worked as a dietitian for the local elementary school.

She is survived by her three sons, Harry (Constance) Durbin, Larry (Jan) Durbin, and Sherman (Ophelia) Vires. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Garey Cupples, Debbye Roxanne Braden, Julie Cox, Joseph Vires, James Gregory Vires, Harry Durbin, Jr., Amanda Durbin, and Jeffrey Durbin; thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be at the South Chapel of George A. Smith & Sons on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Covenant United Methodist Church, 8350 Walnut Grove Rd, Cordova, TN, 38018 or to the church or charity of the donor's choice .
