

Dillard was born on October 4, 1933 in Arab, Alabama to the late James Walter and Maddie Mooney Light.
He graduated from the public school system in Arab, Alabama and then married the love of his life, Doris Head Light. They were married for 67 years until her death on May 6, 2020. He spent his professional career as an executive in the garment manufacturing business in various companies throughout the southeastern United States, retiring as Vice-President of Distribution from Red Kap Industries in 1993.
He is survived by his three children, Debbie (Stan) Harris, Tim Light, and Tony (Julie) Light; grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Chelsea (Shea) Forgety, Dillard “Bo” (Ashley) Light, Jordan (Ben) Wilde, and Jacob Light; and great grandchildren, Marshall, Abi, Parker, Cecilia, Liam, Ella, Holden, Lawson, and Grey.
A memorial service celebrating the lives of Dillard and Doris will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent in their memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
