Mary Frances Frye

Mary Frances Frye, 96, of Bemis passed away in Chattanooga, on December 27, 2015. She was greeted in heaven by her husband of 75 years, Arvin Frye and her daughter Sharon Frye Ada. Mary Frances was the daughter of William O. and Gertrude Davis and was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Cowell and brothers J. Carl Davis, William C. Davis, and Raymond Davis. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bemis where she was both a Sunday School teacher and choir member for 60 years. Mary Frances had a love of flowers and her lawn won numerous awards over the past years. She believed that “God is pleased when we take the small part of His earth where we live and make it as beautiful as we can.” Mary Frances is survived by her son, Odell (Kathy) Frye, granddaughter Catherine (Billy) Newsom, granddaughter Dr. Courtney Frye, grandson Drew (Lauren) Frye, and great-grandchildren Grant Newsom, Eric Newsom, and Lucie Frye. Visitation will be at George A. Smith and Sons, South Chapel from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening December 29 with her funeral at First Baptist, Bemis at 1 p.m. on Wednesday December 30.
