Mary Lee Hendrix passed away peacefully February 11th at age 94. A long-time resident of Jackson, she was residing at Presbyterian Village North in Dallas Texas, at the time of her death. She was born on November 1, 1915 in Bethel Springs, Tennessee to Daniel Webster and Orlena (Bassham) Tull.
She attended high school in Selmer, TN and on February 29, 1936 married Forrest Ralph Hendrix, also of Selmer. They had three children, Dennis R., William A. and Alice Ann each of who were raised in Jackson.
Mary Lee worked for many years at the Jackson Clinic. She, and her husband Ralph, were charter members of Forest Heights United Methodist Church of Jackson, where she was involved in many church activities which were dear to her heart. In later years, she served as a Red Cross Volunteer at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She had a great love for flowers, had a very productive green thumb and was active in the local Rose Society.
She is survived by her three children, Dennis and wife Jennie of Houston, Bill and wife Marie of Dallas, TX and Alice and husband Brooks New of Jackson. She has seven grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Martha Ann Hendrix of Cookville, TN and sister in law, Alice Virginia Hendrix of Jackson, TN. In addition to husband Ralph who passed away in 1995, she is predeceased by her parents, and siblings Hunter Tull of Selmer, TN, and Kathleen Gooch of Halls, TN.
Funeral services are to be held at Forest Heights United Methodist Church in Jackson on Wednesday, February 17th at 1pm. Family visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home North in Jackson on Tuesday evening from 6pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, the families suggest contributions to the American Red Cross.
