Katie was born on December 14, 1932 in Maury City, TN, the daughter of the late Clody Lee and Curtis Ellen White Cannon. She was a graduate of Jackson High School and was an Administrative Officer in her working career. Katie enjoyed square dancing and supporting Union University basketball. She was also an active member of Malesus Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Smith Austin and her son, Gary Austin.
She is survived by her daughter in law, Carolann Cashon Austin; her grandchildren, Robert Gary Austin, Jr. (Meredith) and Christina Austin (Jeremy Rodgers); great grandchildren, Robert Gary Austin III and Chloe Rhea Austin; and one nephew, Phillip Cannon (Tina).
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11 a.m. from Malesus Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation.
