Merline Maness Spencer

Funeral services for Merline Spencer, age 91 of Jackson, will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel with W. D. McCollum officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Spencer was born on January 20, 1919 in Jacks Creek, TN, to the late Sam Howard and Lucy Katherine Maness. She passed away on November 16, 2010 in Jackson, TN. Mrs. Spencer was married to Bill Spencer on May 26, 1941. She was a homemaker, seamstress, refinished furniture and a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Jackson.

Mrs. Spencer is survived by four children, Wanda Spencer June Brooks of Memphis, TN, Jerline Wiggins and husband Donald of Bolivar, TN, Roy Gene Spencer and wife Maureen of Jackson, TN and Anderson Spencer and wife Nancy of Lakeland, TN; a stepson, Billy Joe Spencer of Owensboro, KY; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Spencer; three sisters, Verlon Richardson, Odessia McCollum and Bonnie Strong and a brother, Eddie Otis Maness.

Family will receive friends at 2:00 – 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the North Chapel. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
