Mrs. Warlick was born on July 1, 1921 in Memphis to the late William Thomas Howell and Margaret Ione Richards Howell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Norris Rhinehardt Warlick.
Orphaned at the age of three, Miriam lived at the Methodist Children's Home in Waco, TX until the age of thirteen, then moved to Trenton, TN. Miriam graduated from Peabody High School as valedictorian of the class of 1940, and attended West Tennessee Business College. She was a secretary for the Farmer's Home Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture for fourteen years. Affectionately known as "Miss Miriam," she was a faithful member of Grace Presbyterian Church, teaching children's Sunday school classes and Vacation Bible School for many years. A woman of many interests, she also was active in the Girl Scouts, West Jackson School P.T.A., Christian Women's Club, Dorcas Extension Club, Ladies Auxilliary of the Jackson Fire Department, and the West Tennessee State Fair where, for many years, she organized the culinary exhibit. She loved to garden, and the flower beds of her home were full of beautiful daffodils, irises, and roses every spring.
Mrs. Warlick was also predeceased by her siblings, Louise Howell Ward, William Thomas Howell, Jeanne Howell James, and Helen Howell Chenault Dawkins.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Warlick Carnes (Jim) of Memphis, and Linda Warlick of Boca Raton, FL; two granddaughters, Anna Carnes and Mary Carnes of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1046 Campbell St., Jackson, TN. A funeral service will follow at 12 Noon at Grace Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ford S. Williams, Jr. officiating, assisted by Rev. Brent Sadler and Dr. Phil Newton. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.
