

She was born February 18, 1938, to Dr. Marion Edmund Coy and Martha Louise Orndorff Coy, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jack Martin; brother, Phillip Edmund Coy. She is survived by her sister, Rene Ann Coy-Corbin, and her husband, Austin Corbin; Rene’s son, Austin Kelly Hicks; Rene’s daughter, Cassie Long, and her husband, Greg Long, and their children, Peyton, Lily, Haylei Jo (namesake), and Remi Ann. She is also survived by her nephew, Dr. Phillip Andrew Coy (Phillip’s son), and his wife, Paulette, and their children, Andrew Coy and Ella Martin Engles (namesake), and Ella’s husband, Keifer Engles; and by her niece, Sarah Jane Coy-Erdmier (Phillip’s daughter), and her husband, Brandon Erdmier, and her daughters, Hannah Drake and her husband, Trevor Drake, Sophia, Olivia, and Paisley.
Myra was raised and educated in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School. She married Bobby Jack Martin on August 8, 1956, at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in downtown Jackson. Though she spent many years living and traveling abroad, including extended time in Taiwan and China while supporting her husband’s work as a golf and greens professional on international courses, Jackson was always home. She returned permanently in 2011.
Myra was known for her sharp wit, strong values, generosity, and deep love for animals. She was a talented artist, gardener, and photographer who transformed every place she lived into something beautiful and welcoming. She lived a full life rich in friendships, family, creativity, and stories rooted deeply in Jackson and its history.
A graveside service will be held on February 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, Tennessee, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00–5:00 p.m. at Crown Winery, 3638 E. Mitchell Street, Humboldt, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a local animal shelter in her memory are appreciated.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
