Nan was born on July 30, 1937 in Jackson, Tennessee to Joe and Erma Barber.
Nan married the love of her life, Hurshel G. Johnston, in 1959. The couple resided in Jackson and had three sons; Glenn, Eric and Kevin.
Nan was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked at BancorpSouth as a New Account Specialist for many years before retiring. She was also a member at Englewood Baptist Church.
Nan was a devoted and very loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become “Nana” to her two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Nan loved any chance to spend with her family. She would spend hours playing make-believe and telling stories to her youngest family members and counting down the days when her sons would travel to see her.
Nan was known for her feisty, yet wonderful sense of humor and for being a devoted dog lover. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Nan was the beloved wife of Hurshel Johnston; cherished sister of Robert (Elizabeth) Barber; devoted mother of Glenn Johnston, Eric Johnston, and Kevin Johnston; mother-in-law of Kim Johnston; loving Nana to her two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Evan) Kennedy and Anna (Michael) McCafferty, and her 3 great grandchildren, Lessie and Rushton Kennedy and Henry McCafferty.
All family and friends are invited to gather at George A. Smith and Sons North for a visitation on Friday, August 3rd, 2018 from 3-5 in the afternoon.
