Born on February 14, 1940, in Madison County, Tennessee, Nona was raised in the close-knit Bemis community, where she built a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work. She spent much of her career as a skilled seamstress with Chester Manufacturing, where her dedication and craftsmanship were deeply respected. A devoted member of Lester’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Nona’s quiet strength and steadfast faith were cornerstones of her life.
After retiring, Nona embraced her passions—cooking delicious meals for loved ones, tending her garden with care, and crafting unique jewelry that brought joy to many. Even after moving to the Cades Center, she found a renewed sense of companionship and laughter as part of a special group of card playing friends affectionately known as the “Golden Girls,” who shared many cherished moments together.
Nona was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Vera Ivy Barnette; her husband, Richard Densmore “R.D.” Davy; and her son, Richard Dwight Davy.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Sheila Long (Mackdell), and her treasured grandson, Tim Long, who will carry forward her legacy of kindness, resilience, and love.
A service to celebrate Nona’s life will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service.
Nona’s life was a tapestry of simple joys, deep faith, and enduring love. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
