Funeral Services for Olivia Buck Fesmire Holcomb will be held Friday December 21, 2012 at 1pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Rev. Ray Chandler, Rev. Terry Hundley, and Dr. Clinton Buck officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the Holcomb Family will be Thursday December 20, 2012 from 5pm until 8pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
Olivia Buck Fesmire Holcomb the daughter of the late John Thomas Buck Sr. and Verner Giles Buck obtained her B.S. Degree from Bethel University and her Masters Degree from the University of Memphis. She used these degrees to begin her students’ education as their first grade teacher. During her teaching career she taught at Rose Hill Elementary, White Hall Elementary, and Alexander Elementary until her retirement.
She had a strong will and was very dedicated in all of her endeavors. She was a devoted member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Malesus United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and served as a Church Camp Counselor. Olivia also proudly served as President of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Olivia and Sam Holcomb shared a special love for one another during their 32 years of marriage. People often noticed how they held hands during their morning walk at the park. They were avid travelers visiting many destinations across the USA. Sam always called his beloved Olivia “Sweetie”, a term of affection that never lost its meaning from the time they met till the time they said good bye.
Olivia is survived by her husband Sam Holcomb, her son Glenn Fesmire of Jackson, TN, and his daughter Sara Holcomb Akin of Knoxville, TN, a brother Dr. Clinton Buck of Memphis, TN, a host of nieces and nephews, his Granddaughter Katie Akin Davis, and Great Grandson Raistlin Davis, Two Great Granddaughters Dexie Davis and Anora Davis of Knoxville, TN.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Joe Beal Fesmire, Brothers Ewing Buck, John Thomas Buck Jr. and two sisters Velora Buck Watson and Thalia Buck Baird.
Pall Bearers to serve are: Larry Fesmire, Alan Morris, Linda Baird Bennett, Ramona Baird Martin, Phylis Buck, Jody Watson, Scott Watson, and Glenn Fesmire.
